BRIC

BRIC is a study investigating how inflammation might play a role in cognitive problems for people with Lewy body dementia.

Who can take part?


You may be eligible if you:


  • Are aged 60 or over

  • Are living with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) with Lewy bodies or dementia with Lewy bodies

  • Are on a stable dose (for at least 3 months) of any cholinesterase inhibitor and/or memantine medication (if applicable)

  • Have a family member or friend who knows you well and can take part with you



Who may not be eligible?


You may not be able to take part if you have:


  • An active inflammatory or autoimmune condition

  • A history of stroke

  • Current major depression

  • A history of bipolar disorder, psychosis (e.g. schizophrenia), or recurrent severe depression

  • Chronic migraine


You may also not be eligible if you are taking:


  • Immune-modifying medications (e.g. oral steroids or TNF inhibitors)

  • Certain medications such as liraglutide, minocycline, or other similar drugs
