“When he was given the diagnosis, we could have walked away and not have had follow up care but being part of a trial has made us feel like we are doing something proactive. It has given motivation to us both. We feel well supported by the MARC team, as they give us well rounded care and they are very approachable. We feel good and looked after.”
Impact on people living with memory problems and the loved ones supporting them
Being diagnosed with a memory condition is life‑changing. Our team is deeply committed to giving people with memory problems the opportunity to take part in research that we hope will one day lead to a cure. Taking part in research is voluntary and requires time and commitment, but we see every day how much it can benefit both the person living with memory problems and the loved one supporting them.
Our studies provide dedicated time with psychologists, psychiatrists, and mental health nurses, ensuring people feel supported and well‑informed during what can be a challenging period. Research appointments often last several hours, allowing us to offer truly holistic care and personalised support.
Throughout a study, we closely monitor the physical and mental health of our research participants. In some trials, individuals may also gain access to new treatments that could help support memory, wellbeing, and overall quality of life.
